Bahar Madani, MD
GASTROENTEROLOGY & HEPATOLOGY
Dr. Madani is a fellowship trained gastroenterologist and hepatologist. While she treats digestive diseases, her area of expertise is hepatology which includes wide spectrum of liver diseases including: autoimmune hepatitis, primary biliary cholangitis, primary sclerosing cholangitis, viral hepatitis A, B, C, fatty liver disease and metabolic syndrome, liver cancer and abnormal liver lesions, drug induced liver injury, alcohol induced liver injury and cirrhosis.
Dr. Madani is a graduate of Tehran University of Medical School and Sciences. She received her hepatology fellowship training in University of Pittsburgh, where she was assistant professor of medicine involved in teaching residents and fellows. After completion of her gastroenterology training at Methodist Hospital Medical Center, she joined Scripps Clinic in La Jolla where she worked as a Transplant hepatologist and gastroenterologist and continued to teach fellows and residents and initiated the transplant hepatology fellowship program.
Dr. Madani has participated in many clinical trials in the field of liver disease and has presented her research findings at several international liver meetings.
Dr. Madani believes that team work between a patient and a doctor will create great outcome for both. She feels committed to spend time in educating her patients about their disease process which in return will help her patients to make better decisions for their health.
One of her goals is early diagnosis of fatty liver and metabolic syndrome in order to start appropriate treatment and prevent from complications such as cirrhosis, liver cancer and need for liver transplantation.
