Founded on the grassroots success of India Day celebrations that began in Sacramento in 2005, the Indian Association of Sacramento (IAS) has grown into a vital non-profit organization serving the Folsom, CA area and surrounding communities. What began as a single annual event honoring India's independence has evolved into a comprehensive cultural institution dedicated to preserving Indian heritage for future generations. IAS was established to address the needs of the Indian diaspora while creating meaningful opportunities for all residents of the greater Sacramento region to engage with and appreciate Indian culture. The organization is rooted in the belief that cultural exchange strengthens communities and that celebrating India's artistic, historical, and ethnic diversity enriches everyone. Members and participants in the Folsom community are passionate about sharing their cultural backgrounds through artistic performances, educational programs, and celebratory events. IAS provides a welcoming space where people of Indian origin can maintain connections to their heritage while inviting neighbors and friends to experience the beauty of Indian traditions. The organization's vision extends beyond celebration to genuine education, ensuring that younger generations understand India's complex history and cultural significance. By fostering cross-cultural understanding and creating platforms for artistic expression, the Indian Association of Sacramento builds bridges within the Folsom community while honoring the traditions that members hold dear.
