Since its founding in 1975, the Orange County Women Lawyers Association has been a cornerstone of professional support and advocacy for women in the legal field throughout Newport Beach and Orange County, California. What began as a small gathering of five attorneys discussing the formation of the Women and Individual Rights section has grown into a vibrant organization with over 600 members dedicated to advancing women's representation in law. The association's founding vision—to champion not only women's rights but also the rights of all individuals experiencing discrimination—remains central to its mission today. OCWLA is dedicated to raising awareness of discrimination and bias within the legal profession while building a professional network that empowers women attorneys at all career levels. The organization takes pride in its history of supporting diversity both on the bench and in law firm partnerships, recognizing that when OCWLA began, no women jurists sat on the Orange County bench. Today, OCWLA fulfills educational, marketing, and community service needs through its members' engagement with local charitable organizations and collaborative court initiatives. The association's commitment extends beyond its membership to serve the broader Newport Beach and Orange County community, making it a trusted advocate for equality and professional excellence in the legal field.
