Founded in 1998, the Vietnamese American Bar Association of Northern California (VABANC) has grown into a vibrant community of Vietnamese American attorneys, judges, law students, and legal professionals united by shared values and commitment to service. Operating from San Jose, California, VABANC exists to give Vietnamese American legal professionals a collective voice on matters affecting their community while fostering meaningful professional relationships and personal growth among members. The organization's rich history reflects decades of dedication to supporting emerging generations of Vietnamese attorneys and creating pathways for community impact. At its core, VABANC is driven by a strong sense of community responsibility, recognizing that legal professionals have a unique opportunity to serve the public interest. This commitment manifests through the VABANC Legal Clinic, launched in 2016 and operating monthly at the Vietnamese American Service Center in San Jose, where volunteer attorneys and law students provide direct legal assistance to residents facing housing, immigration, employment, and family law challenges. The establishment of the VABANC Law Foundation as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization in 2010 further demonstrates the association's dedication to advancing justice and expanding legal resources for underrepresented and underserved populations. VABANC actively collaborates with other Asian American community organizations to address systemic issues affecting its members and their communities. Through committee work, volunteer opportunities, and regular member gatherings, VABANC cultivates an inclusive environment where legal professionals can contribute meaningfully to San Jose's Vietnamese American community while advancing their own professional journeys.
