Join Joy Wilkins for a 60-minute community meditation and movement class held on the first Thursday of each month at Texture salon in San Luis Obispo.
In collaboration with R.A.C.E. Matters, this series is a heartfelt invitation to come home to yourself, especially during challenging times—both in the world and within our own lives. It is an honor to hold space for our collective healing and empowerment.
This offering is centered on Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, creating a mindful space rooted in breath, meditation, gentle movement, and sound. This class welcomes all levels and all bodies. Participants can use a chair if using mat is not accessible.
Bring your yoga mat, bottle of water and wear layers: comfortable clothing, and a favorite blanket if you typically practice with one. Herbal tea provided for social time after class. Class is priced on a sliding scale and no-one will be turned away due to a lack of funds.
Joy Wilkins is a RYT 200-hour certified teacher with training in Hatha, Yin, Restorative, and Kundalini yoga. Her classes are rooted in embodied practices, incorporating asana, pranayama, mantra, mudra, meditation, and the chakra system to support deep connection and presence.
Space is limited to 9 participants and this class will often have a waitlist. We ask that you contact us as soon as possible if you cannot attend.

Founded in 1981, the Women Lawyers Association of San Luis Obispo County emerged from a mission to support and advance women in the legal profession and broader community. Operating as an unincorporated association based in San Luis Obispo, CA, WLASLO has evolved from a small group of pioneering female attorneys into a vibrant professional organization that welcomes members of all genders. The association's history reflects significant progress in judicial diversity and professional inclusion—when WLASLO was established, fewer than ten women lawyers practiced in the county and no women sat on the bench. Through advocacy and community engagement, the organization has contributed to transformative change, including the appointment of the first woman judge in San Luis Obispo County in 1992. Today, the local judiciary reflects gender parity, a testament to WLASLO's sustained commitment to advancement and visibility. The organization's traditions—particularly the celebrated annual Judicial Reception—have created informal spaces where attorneys and judges build meaningful professional relationships beyond the courtroom. Members gather monthly on the first Wednesday for lunch, networking, and educational presentations, fostering genuine connections within the legal community. WLASLO's scholarship program invests directly in emerging legal talent, while its Outstanding Woman Lawyer Award celebrates exemplary contributions to the profession. The association maintains deep roots in San Luis Obispo's legal culture while connecting to broader professional networks through California Women Lawyers Association affiliation. In working with and for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, non-binary, queer, Indigenous identities, and similarly identified (LGBTQ+) communities in San Luis Obispo County, The Gala Pride and Diversity Center (GPDC) commits to proactively working in solidarity against white supremacy, settler-colonialism, xenophobia, ableism, capitalist exploitation, religious bigotry, and all forms of cis-heteropatriarchy.
The Gala Pride & Diversity Center has been providing support since before its incorporation in 1997. For more than 10 years we have owned our beautiful Center at 1060 Palm Street.
