The Sam Cary Bar Association in Denver, Colorado stands as a testament to perseverance, justice, and professional excellence. Established in September 1971 by seven pioneering African-American attorneys, the organization was named after Samuel E. Cary, a remarkable early 20th-century lawyer who dedicated his career to serving those often denied legal representation—including Black, Asian, and Native American clients, as well as the economically disadvantaged. Though Cary faced disbarment in 1926 during a time of significant racial prejudice, he was later reinstated in 1935, embodying the fortitude and determination that the association seeks to honor.
