Mr. Akeem was born and raised on Long Island, New York. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University at Albany, with a major in Criminology and minor in Psychology. Inspired to advocate on behalf of those unable to vigorously advocate for themselves, Mr. Akeem moved to Gainesville, Florida, to attend the University of Florida, Levin College of Law.
Mr. Akeem began his legal career by working tirelessly as an Associate Public Defender in Hillsborough County. This provided him an opportunity to work closely with nearly a thousand clients on complex criminal matters. It was the uniqueness of each case that allowed him to become an effective advocate, utilizing both oral advocacy and a rigorous motion practice to put his clients in the best position to reach a desired resolution. Most notably, Mr. Akeem was selected by his office to litigate on behalf of the suspect in the “Tampa Pipe Bomb” case.
Mr. Akeem thereafter gained invaluable civil litigation experience while working for an Insurance Defense firm in St. Petersburg, where he served as outside counsel for the Pinellas County School Board and litigated insurance cases on behalf of Fortune 500 Companies, Individuals and Corporations throughout Florida.
Mr. Akeem now has the privilege of representing victims who have been tragically affected by mesothelioma. He understands that consistent and meaningful contact with clients is the key ingredient to any successful claim.
Theo Lipsey is a versatile personal injury, family, and criminal defense litigator. His diverse practice includes the representation of clients injured in car accidents, slip-and-fall accidents, motorcycle accidents, and truck accidents. He is a formidable criminal defense attorney with exceptional jury trial and bench trial experience which led to both dismissals and positive resolutions for criminal defendants. He has successfully litigated or resolved countless family law issues, including but not limited to, divorce, child custody, child dependency, alimony, and modifications.

Deron Roberson is a co-founder and managing shareholder of Roberson & Roberson P.A. As a Florida employment lawyer, he has represented numerous victims in Tampa Bay and throughout the state. Deron believes that skilled legal representation allows all people to level the playing field against employers and corporations.
Deron received his B.A. from the University of Florida. He also received his J.D. from the University of Florida Levin College of Law where he focused on labor and employment law. During law school, Deron spent time with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Department of Labor Office of the Solicitor General.
Upon the completion of law school, Deron worked for a boutique labor and employment law firm in South Florida. While there, he represented labor unions and its members, in arbitration. Later, he worked for an AM top 100 law firm in Tampa, FL. In that role, he represented large corporations in employment disputes.
Before establishing his own firm, Deron enjoyed a successful career as an employment lawyer for labor unions and corporations. It was not long before he realized that he was getting results for the wrong party. Since then, he has devoted his entire professional life to helping employees recover the compensation they deserve.
Based in Tampa, Florida, the National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. Tampa Bay Chapter is dedicated to bridging opportunity gaps and building the next generation of accounting and finance leaders within the black professional community. Edgecomb, Hillsborough County's first African-American judge, the George Edgecomb Bar Association represents a powerful commitment to justice, diversity, and community leadership in Tampa, Florida. Judge Edgecomb's remarkable career—including his appointment as a county judge in 1973 and his service as the first African-American Chief Assistant County Solicitor and Assistant State Attorney—set a standard of excellence that continues to inspire GEBA's mission today. The association was established by pioneering attorneys and legal professionals who sought to promote and recognize the contributions of African Americans within the legal profession and judiciary while upholding the honor and integrity of the legal profession. For over four decades, GEBA has remained steadfast in its dedication to improving relationships among members of the bar, judiciary, and the public. The organization's members—passionate, dedicated professionals—embody the ideals and principles that defined Judge Edgecomb's brief but profoundly productive life. Beyond professional achievement, GEBA is deeply rooted in the Tampa community, with a commitment to justice initiatives and educational outreach that extends throughout Hillsborough County. The association serves not only as a professional organization but as a community institution dedicated to fostering diversity, advancing equality, and empowering the next generation of African-American legal professionals.
