Edgecomb, Hillsborough County's first African-American judge, the George Edgecomb Bar Association represents a powerful commitment to justice, diversity, and community leadership in Tampa, Florida. Judge Edgecomb's remarkable career—including his appointment as a county judge in 1973 and his service as the first African-American Chief Assistant County Solicitor and Assistant State Attorney—set a standard of excellence that continues to inspire GEBA's mission today. The association was established by pioneering attorneys and legal professionals who sought to promote and recognize the contributions of African Americans within the legal profession and judiciary while upholding the honor and integrity of the legal profession. For over four decades, GEBA has remained steadfast in its dedication to improving relationships among members of the bar, judiciary, and the public.
