In this craft activity, we will be painting wooden eggs with designs inspired by the traditional Ukrainian Pysanky style, rather than using wax on real eggs. Pysanky is known for its intricate patterns and vibrant colors, symbolizing themes such as rebirth and protection.
During the activity, you will learn about the history of Pysanky and attempt to replicate its beautiful motifs on wooden eggs. Using paintbrushes and pens, you'll create stunning designs that reflect the detailed artistry of Pysanky without using wax. This is a craft activity for all ages!
This engaging activity encourages creativity and provides a wonderful opportunity for everyone to express their artistic flair while celebrating this rich cultural heritage! Participants will leave with their unique wooden eggs, perfect for decorating their homes or gifting to loved ones.
* I'm teaching this at the Toombs House Crafting Circle. If you choose, you can bring your own supplies for the event at no charge.***
The Toombs House Crafting Circle is a community crafting circle. All are welcome, provided there is space. If you'd like to join us, as long as there is space, you are welcome to work on your own projects and enjoy the social atmosphere, even when a fee-based project is underway.
