Akwa Ibom State Association of Nigeria (USA), Inc.TM is a 501C(3) non-profit organization with the following sets of objectives:
- To promote, encourage and foster unity among the citizen of Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria both at home and abroad.
- To promote economic, educational, cultural, scientific and social progress of Akwa Ibom State within the framework of one Nigeria.
- To cooperate with and support bona-fide Nigerian Associations in the United States of America and encourage members of the Association to join Nigerian Associations and participate in promoting the interest of Nigeria both at home and abroad.
- To encourage and support the educational, professional and legitimate business aspirations of all Akwa Ibom State citizens, provided those aspirations are consistent with the best interest of Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria and its citizens.
- To act as a liaison between our government, and others, including other organizations both government and non-governmental, and the members of this Association and citizens of Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria in the United States of America.
- To support and promote various charitable organizations by cooperating with any such organization, participating in its activities or contributing to such an organization.
In May 2014, A handful of select Nigerians and Nigerian American women living in the Maryland, DC, and Pennsylvania Metropolis of The United States of America met at 5844 Belair RD, Baltimore Maryland to discuss the Birth of Nigerian Women Association Maryland Metro Inc. (NWAMM). Members are from different works of life, but with a common objective; to create change agents among Nigerians living in The United States of America through creative programs and project initiatives. In our portfolio are creation of enabling environment for Nigerian Americans, promotion of Nigerian cultural heritage, good citizenship, economic sustainability, youth capacity building, and community development.
Our mission is to facilitate charity works and enabling environment for the underserved and minority in our communities in the United States and in our sister tribes in Nigeria. Our mission unites us as one big family working together to make the world a better and brighter place for the underprivileged.

In May 2014, Deaconess Kate Ngozi Okafor invited a select Nigerians and Nigerian Americans living in the Maryland Metropolis in the United States of America to her office in Baltimore Maryland to discuss the Birth of NWA-USA. Despite our geographical, linguistic, religious, and professional diversity, we pride ourselves of a common objective; ‘Creating empowerment programs and enabling environment for Nigerians in the diasporas and the underserved in our communities. Also in our portfolio are promotion of Nigerian cultural heritage, good citizenship, and community development. Today, NWA-USA has become a household name with members from the states of Maryland, District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Virginia.
