The Consulate General of Japan in New York exclusively serves the following areas: Connecticut (Fairfield County only), Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands.
The activities of the Permanent Mission are conducted by five sections.
- The Political Section is in charge of regional issues before the Security Council, disarmament and non-proliferation, peacekeeping operations, and matters of international justice.
- The Economic Section handles development issues, reconstruction aid, environmental issues, and cooperation with offices such as the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and UNICEF.
- The Social Section addresses social, human rights, humanitarian issues, and human security issues.
- The Administrative, Budgetary & UN Recruitment Section handles negotiations concerning the United Nations budget and country assessment rates, and works to increase the number of Japanese nationals working in United Nations institutions.
- The Coordination Section is in charge of the general management of the Mission, including, among others, protocol, communication, security, and accountability. It is also responsible for the coordination of inter-sectional issues such as public relations through media outreach, briefings, etc., liaisoning with the Secretary-General and the President of the General Assembly's offices, and special events.
The Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations represents the Government of Japan and is working towards the realization of several goals on behalf of the Government of Japan. These include:
1. Contribution to the maintenance of international peace and security through the United Nations
2. Peaceful solution of conflicts, and achievement of practical disarmament and non-proliferation
3. Promotion of the UN development agenda, and approaches to environmental issues
4. Enhancement of the engagement in human rights, humanitarian, women’s and social issues
5. Early realization of United Nations reform, including Security Council reform
6. Promotion of human security
7. Enhancement of fiscal discipline and management reform in the United Nations
8. Increasing the number of Japanese nationals as staff of the United Nations Secretariat and other UN organizations
The Japanese American Real Estate Club (JAREC) is the sole real estate organization catered towards Japanese American real estate professionals, as well as anyone interested in building connections between our members and the larger real estate community. It was created to celebrate the incredible achievements of the people and companies within the Japanese American real estate community, and to share these accomplishments with the world.
JAREC was established with the core mission of connecting real estate professionals in the Japanese American community and any persons who would like to foster relationships with the community. Our aim is to create a diverse and welcoming forum where real estate professionals from all cultures and ethnicities can come together to learn and discuss industry trends, develop business opportunities, and most importantly create meaningful lasting relationships.
