Founded in December 2010 by visionary mothers in Raleigh, NC, the Capital City Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. emerged from a shared commitment to reinforce ethnic pride, development, and leadership within African American families. What began as a dessert reception at a local restaurant has grown into a thriving chapter guided by the national organization's fundamental mission of strengthening children through leadership development, volunteer service, philanthropic giving, and civic duty. The chapter's story reflects the dedication of mothers who came together with a clear vision: to create meaningful opportunities for their children to grow, serve, and lead. Over more than two decades, Capital City has built a legacy of service in the Raleigh community, establishing beloved traditions like the Black Family Day Luncheon and Moving Up Ceremony that honor family achievements and milestone transitions. The chapter's mothers take pride in treasuring the present while shaping the future of their families and communities, organizing activities that range from back-to-school initiatives and food drives to legislative advocacy and national conference participation. Founded on the principle of stomping the divide in technology, Blacks In Technology serves the Raleigh, North Carolina community and beyond as a resource for professionals seeking to network, develop professionally, and discover new opportunities in the tech space. The organization addresses a critical reality: Black workers in the technology industry are significantly underrepresented across every career demographic, from startup founders seeking venture capital to core IT workers pursuing pay equity. This non-profit foundation was created to level the playing field through training, education, networking, and mentorship, supported by a global network of allies, partners, sponsors, and members. This organization serves as an intergovernmental and grassroots network committed to building collective power among those fighting against war, repression, and imperialism. The Black Alliance for Peace partners strategically with progressive organizations and community members to advance shared visions of peace, justice, and self-determination across the Americas and globally. Operating from Raleigh with active chapters in major cities, the organization prioritizes deep community engagement through teach-ins, movement news, and direct action that connects local struggles to international solidarity. The Black Alliance for Peace distinguishes itself through its intersectional approach, examining how militarization affects Black communities domestically while supporting the sovereignty and progress of nations resisting U.S. imperial aggression.
