We are the Association of Philippine Physicians of Greater Cincinnati-- a group of physicians in the Tri-State of Southern Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Southeastern Indiana promoting professional growth, social networking and cultural awareness for its members. We collaborate with other Filipino-American communities in the Cincinnati metropolitan area in promoting health and wellness, and participate in charitable and cultural activities.
We are the Association of Philippine Physicians of the Greater Cincinnati (APPGC). We are a 501c(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to promote communication and cooperation among Philippine physicians in the Cincinnati Metropolitan area and other organized groups in our community.
With almost 50 current members, the physicians practice in various specialties in Southwestern Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Southeastern Indiana. Founded in 1978, the APPGC has made considerable contributions to health care in the Greater Cincinnati metropolitan area.
The objectives of the organization are to promote its members and to assist the Filipino physicians' integration with the Cincinnati medical community, to provide an opportunity to socialize and network with fellow Filipino physicians, and to provide educational activities for its membership.
The APPGC had provided many CME activities over the years and recently partnered with Lindner Center of Hope and UC Health to present mental health lectures as continuing medical education for primary care providers.
Association of Philippine-American Physicians in Ohio was formed by a small group of Filipino physicians in 1974 to promote medical mission work in the Philippines, their homeland. It has slowly grown to over 300 physicians from all over Northeast Ohio. APPO has returned to the Philippines yearly for over 30 years serving over 300,000 patients in that time span.
APPO also wants to give back to Cleveland, Ohio where it was founded. We have physicians who volunteer at the North Coast Health Ministry, Asian Festival (2012) and Medworks. We provide scholarships to students in the Philippines interested in medical school and also to those here in Cleveland.
Since we are a charitable foundation, we are supported by membership dues, donations and fund-raising events such as Sampaguita Ball and CME typically held in May and the Charity Golf Outing in August. These events are usually well attended and a lot of fun.
