Since 1978, the Daughters of Erin has been a cornerstone of Irish-American community life in Columbus, Ohio, built on the vision of ten dedicated women who dreamed of honoring their heritage while serving others. Guided by their patron saint, Saint Brigid, and the motto "American by birth, Irish by the grace of God," the organization embodies the values of compassion, cultural pride, and selfless service. What began as a small gathering has evolved into Central Ohio's most prominent Irish-American women's organization, united by a commitment to perpetuating Irish music, culture, history, and customs for future generations. The Daughters of Erin believe in giving back to their community regardless of race, creed, or religion, demonstrating this through consistent support of local families in need, particularly during the holidays. Members volunteer their time and talent through fundraising events, community celebrations, and direct service to vulnerable populations including children, seniors, and those experiencing homelessness. The organization's special Clown Unit brings laughter and joy to those who need it most, while their Irish Theater Project celebrates heritage through performance and scholarship opportunities.
