Since 1980, Oklahomans for Equality has been the heart of Tulsa's 2SLGBTQIA community, built on a foundation of human rights advocacy and genuine connection. What began as a small group of concerned citizens committed to equality has grown into a thriving organization that welcomes Two Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, and Asexual individuals and their allies. The organization's journey reflects decades of courageous community building—from pioneering the first gay pride picnic and sponsoring nationally recognized events to opening Northeast Oklahoma's first anonymous HIV testing clinic during the AIDS crisis. Today, Oklahomans for Equality operates the Dennis R. Neill Equality Center, a testament to community resilience and vision. This beautiful 18,000-square-foot facility was built through the dedication of 275 volunteers who contributed over 7,000 hours of labor, transforming a purchased building into a permanent home for celebration, healing, and connection. The Center features event spaces, a wellness center, and a lending library—all designed to serve the community's evolving needs.
