The German-American Society of Tulsa (GAST or GASTulsa for short) was informally founded in 1979 when a group of native-born Germans decided to host the first-ever Oktoberfest in Tulsa. The success of the event lead to the group continuing informal organization activities until January1980 when GAST was officially formed as a social organization. In 1981 the German-American Society Arts Association (GASAA) was formed as a not for profit charitable organization. The addition of the association brought about more growth and activity at GAST. Together the two entities comprise the German-American Society of Tulsa as it is known today.
German-American Society of Tulsa's mission is to promote and preserve the German language, culture, traditions, and customs through educational, social activities, and events for the enrichment of our members and the community.
