Join us for a special MLK Day edition of the every.Word Poetry Monday Night Open Mic, presented in collaboration with The VORTEX. This annual gathering honors the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through poetry, music, and performance that uplift Black voices and celebrate art as resistance, truth-telling, and collective liberation
Hosted by acclaimed poet, playwright, and artivist Ebony Stewart, this evening centers Black poets while welcoming musicians and allies into a values-aligned creative space. Together, we gather in community to honor Dr. King’s enduring call for justice, love, and freedom of expression.
“Unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.” — Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Come out and rep where your pride lay but let’s get this straight:
It don’t matter if you’re part of an org or not
If you marched in the band or just vibed in the stands
If you went to an HBCU or you just love the culture
We want you outside turning up with us!
Yardtopia ain’t about separation, it’s about celebration.
We’re taking over Deep Ellum and turning it into one big ass yard for the city.
Greeks, HBCU fam, band heads, dance teams, alumni, students, and everybody in between — we all outside enjoying good drinks, good music, and even better people.
We’re bringing that Homecoming feeling to a bar crawl — the link-ups, the laughs, the strolls, the fit checks, the memories. It’s that same campus energy, just turned up on the streets of Dallas.
And after the wait... we’re back!
6 Bars. 6 Vibes. 1 Night For The Culture.
Every stop brings a different kind of energy. From rooftop chaos to laid-back lounges, every bar represents a part of the culture that raised us.
