The MMCC was founded in the 1980s to preserve the Hungarian language and culture. In 2002, it received the status of 'non-profit organization'. It considers its primary task to nurture the Hungarian language, culture and folk traditions among the Hungarian-speaking residents of North Texas, as well as to introduce them to the American communities. During Hungarian national holidays and commemorations, awaken national self-awareness in the young people of Hungarian families living in the environment.
The organization has a close relationship with the Cistercian Abbey of Our Lady of Dallas, where the Hungarian Fathers hold monthly Hungarian Masses, and where the MMCC organizes and conducts Hungarian national holidays or commemorations.
The organization is in close contact with the Fort-Worth International Sister Cities Association, the Budapest Commission, as Budapest and Fort Worth are sister cities.
