Black Like That is a bold, vibrant community festival produced by The Normal Anomaly Initiative, Inc., in partnership with Pride Houston 365. It’s a cultural celebration rooted in Black and queer excellence — proudly visible, proudly joyful, and unapologetically itself.
Black Like That is the evolved form of the beloved Black Queer AF Music Festival (BQAF), now reimagined with a renewed focus on community, culture, and celebration. The event centers the voices, stories, and brilliance of Black LGBTQ+ culture while creating space for collective joy, creativity, and connection.
The 2026 theme is “We Ain’t Going Nowhere.” It’s both a celebration and a declaration — a statement of resilience as The Normal Anomaly Initiative marks its fifth anniversary amid ongoing challenges to Black and queer communities.
Black Like That is an inclusive space for every race, color, identity, and sexuality, but this year centers women of all experiences — including Black and Brown women, queer women, trans women, cis women, and allies — highlighting their influence across music, fashion, comedy, entrepreneurship, and more.
What to Expect:
Live performances from local and national LGBTQ+ artists
Spaces for community celebration, storytelling, and cultural expression
Opportunities for artists, vendors, and community partners to participate and showcase work
A festival experience that honors the legacy of LGBTQ+ liberation — fittingly scheduled near the anniversary of the Stonewall uprising — and continues that work in the present.
Come support and shop from amazing Black queer and lesbian artists showing off their creativity and talent!

Groove & Glow: Yoga, Journaling & Mindful Movement (Free Community Event)
Groove & Glow! Hosted by Star Dust Co. and LNKD Community.
Looking for a space to slow down, stretch your body, and reconnect with yourself?
This activation of Groove & Glow is a free (as always), community-centered yoga and mindfulness experience designed for those who want to move with intention and ease into a softer pace. Join us on Sunday, May 3 for an afternoon of guided movement, reflection, and gentle connection.
We’ll begin with a guided yoga flow led by @planetdari, open to all levels, whether you’re brand new to yoga or returning to your mat. After the flow, the space will remain open for a post-session cool down with optional journaling prompts, light movement, and time to simply sit and be.
This space is created with Black queer women (trans and cis), trans men, and nonbinary people at the center. Allies are welcome, and we ask that you enter with care, awareness, and respect for the community this experience is intended to hold.
This experience is especially for those who want something more intentional than a typical outing. There is no pressure to perform, just space to exist in your body.
To maintain the integrity of the session, doors will close promptly at 1:00 PM. Please plan to arrive early to get settled.
We teach the fundamentals of jiu-jitsu, which are applicable for self-defense and practical for every body type. All levels welcome!
