A collaborative partnership between OCA-Greater Houston and Tokyo X to host the AAPI FEST at the Alief Neighborhood Center and Park. The festival will unite Houston's diverse Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities—including Vietnamese, Chinese, Indian, Japanese, Filipino, Korean, and many other groups by working with local community leaders.
With over 170 vendors participating, various cultures will showcase Asian pride through food, merchandise, and art. The festival's core goal is to empower local businesses and foster community unity in the heart of the multicultural Alief district.
Since its founding in 2007, the Vietnamese American Medical Association of Greater Houston has served as the principal representative organization for Vietnamese physicians throughout the Greater Houston area, including Bellaire, TX. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, VAMA-GH is deeply rooted in community values and dedicated to improving health outcomes for the Vietnamese population and underserved communities across Houston and surrounding counties. The organization's mission centers on promoting good health practices, preventative care education, and accessible medical services to those most in need. VAMA-GH demonstrates its commitment through direct community engagement, organizing annual health fairs that deliver free medical care, flu vaccines, and health services to uninsured and underinsured residents. The association develops targeted community education programs addressing health conditions that disproportionately affect Vietnamese populations, ensuring culturally informed healthcare awareness. VAMA-GH also champions diversity in healthcare by leading bone marrow drives to expand representation from the Asian community in national donor registries. Beyond serving patients, the organization invests in future healthcare leaders by providing scholarships to aspiring medical students from the community. With a membership of over 70 physicians practicing across all specialties, VAMA-GH creates a collaborative network that strengthens the quality and accessibility of healthcare while fostering professional growth among Vietnamese American medical professionals.
