Black men deserve a space where their voices are heard and their experiences are understood without judgment. In a world where vulnerability is often seen as weakness and systemic barriers make it harder to access the support they need, Breakfast & Brotherhood creates a safe and affirming environment for connection.
This group is about more than conversation; it’s about unpacking the weight of societal expectations, challenging the stigma around mental health, and building a sense of community rooted in trust, understanding, and growth. Here, Black men can reflect, share, and support one another as they navigate life’s complexities.
The Houston Black Real Estate Association (HBREA) founded in 1949, is the local chapter of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB). NAREB, founded in 1947, is the oldest and largest minority trade association in America. HBREA was founded on the principle that all citizens have the right to equal housing opportunities regardless of race, creed or color.
The Houston Black Real Estate Association was founded in 1949 by 11 progressive real estate brokers. The brokers, faced with the dilemma of discriminatory real estate practices, deemed it necessary to form an entity that could ensure not only democracy in the real estate industry, but also in housing opportunities.
In 1956, the organization was incorporated and became the Houston Real Estate Association, Inc. In 2012, a dba was created for HBREA to do business as The Houston Black Real Estate Association, Inc.
Encouraged by the prospect of progress through organization, the association immediately launched an educational program in order to better qualify themselves and to open the door for other Negroes interested in the real estate industry. Through the cooperation of Texas Southern University, evening classes in Real Estate Principles, Salesmanship, Real Estate Brokerage and Real Estate Law were sponsored by the Association.
HBREA was founded on the principle that all citizens have the right to equal housing opportunities regardless of race, creed or color and our Mission is to Promote “Democracy in Housing” at every opportunity.

(NAREB). Officers of the Board consist of local Presidents from each chapter, and other elected directors from local chapters across the state. This structure provides opportunities for all of the local chapters across the state to have a greater voice in housing and real estate matters, by joining with colleagues from across the state.
