LGBT & Allied Lawyers of Utah represents a community of legal professionals united by a shared mission to promote and support the rights of LGBT people within the legal profession and throughout the state. Operating as an association of the Utah State Bar and affiliated with the National LGBT Bar Association, LALU has established itself as a cornerstone organization for allied and LGBT attorneys in Salt Lake City and across Utah. The organization exists fundamentally to serve lawyers—providing them with community, resources, and opportunities to engage in meaningful advocacy work. LALU's approach centers on the belief that lawyers have a unique responsibility to advance justice and equality, and the organization empowers its members to fulfill that role. The recently refreshed branding and organizational identity reflect LALU's commitment to celebrating the LGBT community while emphasizing love and connection at the heart of its mission. Open to all legal professionals who are members of the Utah State Bar, LALU welcomes attorneys at all career stages, from those early in their practice to seasoned professionals. The diverse board leadership—including practitioners in real estate, corporate law, litigation, family law, and public service—demonstrates the organization's inclusive approach and broad representation. By fostering relationships among Utah's legal community, LALU creates space for attorneys to connect authentically, support one another's professional growth, and collectively advance LGBT rights and protections throughout Utah's legal system and society.
