The duties of Polish Honorary Consuls include: protection of the rights and interests of the Republic of Poland and its citizens, fostering the development of friendly relations and cooperation between Poland and the U.S., fostering the bonds between Poland and Polish Americans, promoting the Polish economy, science, culture and language, and providing consular assistance.
In addition to the Embassy and eight Consulates General, there are also many honorary consuls in the U.S. ready to assist you with advise and counsel. Honorary consuls are called „honorary“ because they perform their work on an honorary basis and are not paid a fee for their services. Many of our honorary consuls are not German citizens; compared with the foreign missions, they have only limited consular authority and thus also only limited official means to provide assistance. For example, only some are able to accept passport applications from you, notarize signatures, or perform similar functions. Because they frequently practice their consular office alongside a main profession, it is not reasonable to expect that they are always present or available by phone. If there is an honorary consul at your vacation site and you require assistance, you should nevertheless initially contact them because they best knows the local situation. Honorary consuls will, if necessary, refer you further to the competent German foreign mission if they themselves cannot assist.

France has three consular agencies in the Washington constituency, located in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Norfolk. Placed under the responsibility and control of the Consul General of France in Washington, they extend the consular network closer to French nationals. They are managed by an honorary consul.
Honorary consuls are not civil servants but private individuals who exercise their functions on a voluntary basis.
Their main mission is the protection of French people and their interests and the duty to report to the French consular authorities on events of interest to these authorities.
Shameka graduated from law school, passed the bar (on the first time!), and has been practicing for the last 15 years, but that is not what is most important about her. She has compassion and empathy for her clients because she knows how they feel. She will be there for each client in their time of need.
“I cannot guarantee the outcome,” Shameka says, “but I can guarantee that I will provide you with the best representation possible, and I will be there to help you get through this difficult situation.”
“People’s emotions run rampant during criminal and family law cases, and sometimes, they cannot see the forest for the trees,” Shameka said. “I want to be their guide through one of the most difficult times in their lives.”
