Since its founding in 1982, the Filipino American Community of South Puget Sound has served as a cultural home and gathering place for Filipino Americans throughout the Lacey, Washington region and beyond. This nonprofit organization is dedicated to preserving and promoting Filipino heritage and identity within the culturally diverse society of the United States, with a particular focus on engaging younger generations in Filipino traditions and values. FACSPS operates with three core purposes: fostering education and consciousness of Filipino heritage among members, promoting Filipino American identity within the broader community, and providing charitable services to both local and international nonprofit organizations. The organization believes in the power of community connection, offering opportunities for members to socialize through picnics, parties, bowling tournaments, and cultural celebrations like the annual Santacruzan. Beyond social activities, FACSPS demonstrates its commitment to education by awarding scholarships to deserving high school graduates and supporting charitable institutions. The organization extends its compassion internationally, serving as a fundraising group that provides assistance to communities in the Philippines during natural calamities. As a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) educational and charitable organization, FACSPS welcomes diverse membership including those interested in learning about Filipino culture and anyone open to cultural diversity. Operating from Lacey with connections throughout the South Puget Sound community, FACSPS represents a multigenerational commitment to cultural pride, educational advancement, and community service.
