Wyoming Equality's journey began in 1987 when a dedicated group of gay and lesbian Wyomingites in Cheyenne and Laramie came together with a simple but powerful vision—to create a welcoming space where they could be their authentic selves while enjoying the outdoors in their home state. What started as an annual camping trip called Rendezvous has evolved into a statewide advocacy organization rooted in genuine community connection and shared values. Today, Wyoming Equality remains committed to its founding principle of building authentic, inclusive communities where LGBTQ Wyomingites feel celebrated and protected. The organization recognizes that meaningful change happens when people come together across differences, which is why it works collaboratively with members, local partners, and allies throughout Wyoming to create lasting impact. From supporting educators and students in schools to advocating for equitable healthcare access to strengthening Pride and PFLAG organizations, Wyoming Equality addresses the real-world needs of LGBTQ communities across the state. Operating from Cheyenne, the organization embodies a deep understanding of Wyoming's unique landscape and culture, bringing both grassroots energy and strategic vision to its work. Wyoming Equality invites all who share its vision of a Wyoming where dignity, humanity, and equality are celebrated—whether through volunteering, donating, building local capacity, or simply standing in solidarity with LGBTQ neighbors and friends.
