Virginia Ryan is a business law and estate planning attorney located in Grass Valley, California. She counsels clients on starting and operating a business, including nonprofits, to planning for their family’s future.
Virginia assists clients in achieving abundance and safe guarding their businesses as well as their estates for future generations. She is a trusted advisor to her clients and values her relationships with her clients. When you work with Virginia, you can always expect timely, competent and courteous advice.
For 20 years, Ms. Virginia Ryan has counseled clients on complex business law and intellectual property matters, as well as estate planning matters. Prior to moving to Grass Valley in 2011, Virginia practiced law in the Bay Area at large law firms, including Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, Perkins Coie LLP and Gray Cary Ware &Freidenrich LLP (now DLA Piper).
While in the Bay Area, Virginia loved representing a range of business in various industries and in various stages, from entrepreneurs and start-ups to fortune 100 companies. However, in 2011, she and her husband moved to the small town of Grass Valley seeking more time to enjoy the scenic outdoors, the beautiful communities of Grass Valley and Nevada City, and each other.
Virginia loves to read and considers herself a “life-long learner/student”. Virginia’s passion for learning started earlier than most. She grew up in Sacramento and at the age of 18 received her B.S. in Mathematics with honors from the University of California, Davis. She went on to law school and received her law degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall) at the age of 20, making her the youngest graduate of Boalt Hall and the youngest lawyer in California from 1998 to 2007 and seemingly the nation.
When Virginia isn’t learning about her clients’ needs and helping them fulfill their goals and dreams, she is spending time with her family, running, gardening, reading or baking.
Virginia currently serves on the Board of Directors of Community Legal in Nevada City and The Nest Family Resource Center and has served on the Board of Directors of United Way of Nevada County. Virginia has taught Business Law at Sacramento City College and has served as a Pro Tem Judge for the Small Claims Division of the Sacramento County Superior Court.
