The Pomona Inland Valley Martin Luther King Jr. Project (PIVMLK) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by supporting youth and promoting social justice. Since its founding in 1982, the project has provided scholarships and awards to local students aged 15-19, helping them achieve their educational goals while recognizing their contributions to social justice efforts. Over the years, PIVMLK has supported more than 120 students and donated over $55,000 to their cause.
The organization also hosts an annual MLK Celebration, which includes the presentation of the Youth Social Justice Student Awards and the Zennie Cummings Community Support Award. This event brings together the community to celebrate Dr. King's vision and acknowledge individuals and organizations making a positive impact.
