The Cuban American Bar Association (CABA) is a student organization at the University of Miami School of Law in Coral Gables, FL that celebrates and strengthens the connection between law students and the Cuban American legal community. Founded on the principle that cultural identity and professional achievement go hand in hand, CABA provides a welcoming space where students can explore their heritage while building meaningful relationships with peers and mentors who share similar backgrounds and aspirations.
At its core, CABA's mission reflects a deep commitment to inclusivity and community building within the law school environment. The organization recognizes the unique perspectives and experiences that Cuban American students bring to legal education and the profession. By fostering membership and engagement with the Cuban American Bar Association, CABA helps students understand the rich traditions of Cuban American legal practice and the important role that cultural organizations play in supporting professional growth and community service.
Based in Coral Gables, a community with significant Cuban American heritage and influence, CABA operates in a location that resonates deeply with its mission and values. The organization serves as a cultural anchor within the University of Miami School of Law, providing students with opportunities to celebrate their identity, share experiences, and support one another through the challenges and triumphs of legal education. Through fellowship, mentorship, and collaborative activities, CABA creates a sense of belonging that enriches the law school experience.
For Cuban American law students and those interested in engaging with this vibrant legal community, CABA offers more than professional development—it offers a home, a network, and a pathway to contributing meaningfully to both the legal profession and the broader Cuban American community they serve.
Founded in Washington, DC in 1972 to address the unique challenges facing Cuban Americans during their transition into American society, the Cuban American National Council has evolved into a vital community institution serving Miami, FL and beyond. What began as a focused research and advocacy organization has grown into a comprehensive nonprofit dedicated to nurturing Hispanic communities and supporting individuals from all backgrounds. CNC's mission reflects a deep commitment to human dignity and community empowerment—assisting people in need to become self-reliant while simultaneously building bridges across America's diverse communities. Based in Miami, the organization understands the cultural complexities and practical challenges facing immigrant and underserved populations, bringing this insight to every program and service it offers. CNC celebrates its heritage and community connections through cultural events like the annual Cuban Heritage Night, while simultaneously addressing pressing social needs through education, workforce development, and family support services. The organization's leadership, guided by President and CEO Gabriela Musiet, maintains a vision of inclusive community development where all individuals have access to resources and opportunities for advancement. By combining historical perspective with contemporary programming, CNC honors its origins while remaining responsive to the evolving needs of Miami's vibrant Hispanic and multicultural communities, proving that nonprofit organizations can simultaneously preserve cultural identity and foster broader social cohesion.

Get ready to savor the flavors of Cuba with our Everyday Cuban Food event - it's a tasty adventure you won't want to miss!
We all love Cuban food, but it can be daunting to recreate such flavorful dishes. Join us for this class to learn the keys to Cuban flavors, learn some simple recipes that can be made any night of the week, and get great ideas of how to use these recipes as a starting point for many other favorites.
In this class, Chef Maria will lead you in creating a versatile menu that is full of savory Cuban flavors but is easy enough to execute on a weeknight. We will make a mojo-marinated pork tenderloin which will be used in Cuban sandwiches, beef picadillo (the start to many of our favorite Cuban snacks), quick Cuban-style black beans, and guava and cheese pastelitos.
Guests will be tasting all dishes and will take home recipes so they can be recreated at home.
Included in the class:
An appetizer to share while the meal is prepared
Samples of all dishes
Demonstration-style instruction with option to be more hands-on
Printed recipes to take home
Feel free to bring a bottle of wine to enjoy during the class.
