Irish Network USA is the national umbrella organization integrating the Irish Networks that exist in various cities across the United States. The South Florida Emerald Society was founded in 1952 to promote the Irish & Irish-American cultures and to bring together its members while seeking to foster and enjoy social gatherings.
The South Florida Emerald Society, Inc. was organized for benevolent purposes, to
- foster and enjoy social gatherings of members, closer personal acquaintances, and a friendly spirit of mutual cooperation
- further and promote the general welfare and prosperity of the members and to improve by any and all lawful means their status and conditions
- perpetuate the glories of the Gaelic culture and to record the history of the descendants of Ireland
- assist in any other matter pertaining to the welfare and advancement of the members and for the attainment and improvement of those of Irish ancestry
The United Irish is a society of Irish descendants and spouses who support, celebrate, and take pride in our rich Irish Heritage. We preserve and maintain our heritage, culture and language through social, fraternal, educational and cultural activities.
After the merger of two well established clubs in Lee County we adopted the full name of “United Irish of Southwest Florida” and are referred to as “United Irish” for short.
We provide activities and entertainment for our members and guests to promote good will and citizenship, and support worthy causes of organizations.
Each season Irish dances, picnics, parties, and parade festivities are just a few of the many events planned. We are strongly affiliated with the Notre Dame Club, and actively participate in many of their activities.
There are 100 plus members and is continuing to grow stronger. We enjoy celebrations and take pride in our rich Irish culture.
