Héctor's legal career spans over 30 years. He is the senior partner at Rivera & Hanes, P.L., a law firm focused on real estate transactions, development, land title & title insurance for offshore, civil & common law jurisdictions; trust & estates; and corporate law. He is also the President of International Data Management, Inc., which concentrates on international real estate title and developer services, with a specialization in title matters for The Bahamas and the Turks & Caicos. IDM’s unique title plant/database enables searches for The Bahamas not otherwise available. IDM, R&H and Héctor have been recognized as the “Leaders in Bahamian Title Matters” and providers of “Best International Title & Developer Services”. Héctor has also been recognized as being in the “Legal Elite” and in the top 1.6% of his practice area. Over the past 17 years, he has concentrated on Bahamian land title and real estate. From 1997-2000, Héctor was the Operations Vice-President at a prominent title insurance company in Puerto Rico. He established and expanded offices for the largest real estate & title insurance firm in the Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C. tri-state area - an endeavor he undertook after selling his solo practice in 1994. Héctor began his legal career with the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps in 1984, after graduating from the George Washington University National Law Center. There, he worked as an International Claims Commissioner, Special Assistant U.S. Attorney, Criminal Defense Attorney, Administrative Law Advisor, and in different Senior Counsel and Staff Judge Advocate positions. In addition to zealously representing his clients, he has served the U.S. in two wars. He received various awards for his outstanding military legal service. He is a distinguished citizen and attorney whose approach to client service stems from his military values of service, loyalty, honesty and integrity. He is bilingual and has spoken on real estate & title insurance matters in the U.S., The Bahamas and Puerto Rico. His experience also allows him to provide consultation and of-counsel services for Bahamian matters.
