Since 1979, the Germanic Genealogy Society has served the Mendota Heights, Minnesota community and genealogy enthusiasts worldwide with a mission to preserve and share Germanic heritage. What began as the German Interest Group has evolved into a vibrant independent organization with over 900 members dedicated to understanding their ancestral roots. The organization's commitment to its members extends beyond research—GGS fosters genuine community connection through regular meetings, educational opportunities, and collaborative study groups where members exchange ideas and support one another's genealogical journeys. The society publishes a quality genealogical journal and actively collects and preserves genealogical, biographical, and historical materials relating to German genealogy globally.
