Founded in 1980 by seven dedicated individuals gathering around a dining room table, the American Italian Heritage Society has become a cornerstone of cultural preservation and family-centered community engagement in Omaha, Nebraska. What began as a grassroots effort to promote and research Italian culture has evolved into a vibrant organization serving over 1,000 members who share a passion for maintaining Italian heritage and traditions. At its core, the Society operates with a fundamental commitment to creating a family-oriented environment where children and adults alike can actively participate in learning about and celebrating their ethnic heritage. The organization believes strongly in intergenerational involvement, ensuring that younger members develop a deep appreciation for Italian customs, language, and traditions alongside their parents and grandparents. Beyond celebrations and social gatherings, the American Italian Heritage Society is actively working toward establishing a cultural museum and library in the Omaha area.
