JACL was organized in 1929 as an educational/social action group in response to prejudice and discrimination directed toward Americans of Japanese ancestry. It is the largest and one of the oldest national Asian American organizations.
JACL's mission is to secure and uphold the human and civil rights of Americans of Japanese ancestry and others and to promote and preserve the cultural heritage and values of Japanese Americans.
The Japan-America Society of Central Ohio is a private 501(c)(3) not-for-profit membership association of Americans and Japanese who desire to bring the Japanese American communities together, promote goodwill through the sharing of knowledge about Japan, and provide a forum for informed discussion regarding the Japan-U.S. relationship. The Japan-America Society of Central Ohio is one of 38 Japan-America Societies located through the United States and is a member of the National Association of Japan-America Societies.
Founded in 1997 at The Ohio State University, the Japan-America Society of Central Ohio has had an ongoing commitment to serve the wide and varied needs of the Japanese living in Ohio and Ohioans engaged and interested in Japan. The Japan America Society of Greater Cincinnati (JASGC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created to promote a better understanding and cultural awareness between the people of Japan and the people of the Cincinnati Region.
We strive to foster business, cultural and social connections between the citizens, companies, and governments of Japan and Greater Cincinnati. Our goal is to lead a more productive, stable, and the enriched relationship between our two countries.
We serve our local community by enhancing relationships between the people of Japan and the residents of Greater Cincinnati.
