The Oregon Chapter of the National Bar Association (OC-NBA) is Oregon’s Black bar association. Throughout the year we offer a variety of opportunities to help our members connect with one another. We do this separately and collaboratively with other bar organizations. The objectives of the OC-NBA are to: - Advance the Rule of Law[1] to ensure access to justice; - Uphold the honor and integrity of the legal profession; - Preserve the independence of the judiciary; - Promote professional and social engagement opportunities among Black[2] lawyers, law students, members of the Bar, and the Oregon community; and - Protect civil and political rights and seek to improve the social and economic condition of Black people and their allies. OC-NBA is using “Black” inclusively. This includes individuals who identify themselves as Black, African American, or individuals of African descent.

Jack and Jill of America, Inc., is a membership organization of mothers with children ages 2 – 19, dedicated to nurturing future African American leaders by strengthening children through leadership development, volunteer service, philanthropic giving and civic duty. United and proud Moms from Philadelphia, New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles, various parts of Oregon have made Portland their home. We are different Moms from different areas, but we all want the same thing for our children. We want them to be proud of themselves! To be around people that look like them. To share experiences with other African American children. This desire has ignited the Moms to passionately pursue establishing a Jack & Jill Inc chapter in Portland, Oregon. It’s been a labor of love! Friendships have been formed among the Moms, children and Dads. Jack & Jill, Inc is feeding our soul with the nourishment we need to further empower our children.
