Since its establishment in 1973, the Pittsburgh Turkish American Association has been a cornerstone of Turkish-American life in Pittsburgh, PA and the surrounding tri-state area. Built on a foundation of cultural pride and community service, PTAA brings together Turkish-Americans to celebrate their heritage while strengthening bonds with the broader Pittsburgh region. The organization's mission centers on preserving cultural ties between Turkey and the United States, creating spaces where Turkish-Americans can connect, and supporting those navigating life in a new country. Over the decades, PTAA has grown from publishing the widely-distributed PTAA Digest to developing an active online presence that reaches Turkish-Americans across the nation. The association's commitment extends beyond social gatherings—PTAA actively supports charitable organizations in both Turkey and the United States, demonstrates solidarity with local non-profit efforts, and provides practical assistance to newly arrived Turkish families and students. As a member of the Assembly of Turkish American Associations, PTAA represents the voice and interests of Pittsburgh's Turkish-American community in cultural activities and advocacy. Today, the organization continues evolving to meet community needs while honoring its 50-year legacy of fostering belonging, cultural expression, and meaningful connections among Turkish-Americans in Pittsburgh and beyond.
