Join us for an evening exploring works connected to Italy during the Medieval and Early Renaissance periods at the MFAH.
This guided experience begins at the Italian Cultural & Community Center with a short framing session introducing the historical and cultural developments that shaped Italy between the 13th and early 15th centuries. We will then walk together to the museum for a docent-led tour highlighting artworks by Italian artists, works depicting Italy, and pieces that reflect Italian cultural heritage during this transformative era.
Together, we will explore how artistic traditions evolved from Medieval devotional imagery toward the naturalism and innovation associated with the early Renaissance.

Representing the Government of Italy in Houston, Texas, the Consulate General of Italy serves as a vital bridge between Italian citizens abroad and their homeland. Operating across a four-state area that includes Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas, the consulate embodies Italy's commitment to protecting and supporting its nationals living in the United States. The consulate's mission centers on safeguarding the fundamental rights and personal freedom of Italian citizens, providing compassionate emergency assistance during times of crisis, and facilitating critical family connections across continents. Whether helping locate missing family members, navigating complex inheritance matters, or honoring the deceased through respectful repatriation services, the Houston consulate demonstrates Italy's dedication to its people. The consulate fosters community engagement through cultural programming, including film screenings and concerts that celebrate Italian heritage and strengthen bonds within the local Italian-American community. By maintaining transparent, impartial service standards, the consulate ensures every interaction reflects the dignity and professionalism expected of Italian diplomatic representation. The Houston office connects residents to Italy's broader diplomatic infrastructure while providing localized support tailored to the unique needs of Italian nationals throughout Texas and neighboring states. Through its presence in Houston, the consulate affirms Italy's enduring commitment to its citizens worldwide and to building meaningful relationships with the communities it serves.
Since its founding in 1976, the Italian Cultural & Community Center of Houston has served as a vital hub for preserving and celebrating Italian heritage in the greater Houston area. What began as an umbrella organization coordinating over 20 Italian clubs evolved into a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to advancing Italian culture through educational, cultural, and social programs for all Houstonians. In 1988, the organization purchased the historic Milford House in Houston's Museum District, transforming it into a community gathering space that honors both Italian traditions and local history. The Center's mission extends beyond cultural programming to include meaningful community support, such as scholarships for deserving high school students and volunteer opportunities that allow residents to give back while connecting with others who share a passion for Italian culture. With a board of directors and staff composed of dedicated professionals, the ICCC has built a thriving community where members, supporters, and volunteers work together to keep Italian traditions alive. The Milford House itself—a century-old landmark—stands as a testament to the organization's commitment to preserving heritage while serving as an inclusive space where Houstonians of all backgrounds can discover authentic Italian cuisine, language, and culture.
