John Huh
I am a results-driven and adaptive leader with nearly two decades of experience in crisis management, litigation, investigations, government affairs, transactions, and compliance. As a legal executive, I leverage my prior experience as first-chair outside counsel and a leader/partner at global law firms to empower my colleagues and generate returns to stakeholders. At Invitation Homes, I lead the litigation and investigative matters of the company and provide strategic legal/business counsel to the C-Suite and Board of Directors. I oversee the management of the company's portfolio of disputes and outside counsel, and assist with the development, improvement, and implementation of the company's compliance polices, procedures, and remediation plans. In addition, I play a critical role in navigating the company through various types of transactions and engagements.
In my prior roles, I was a partner at two global law firms with an international practice consisting of business counseling, litigation, arbitrations, investigations, and compliance. My clients ranged from startups to Fortune 100 companies in the real estate, technology, life sciences, financial services, education, food & beverage, and retail sectors. My practice focused on high-stakes business disputes and class actions, as well as consumer protection and antitrust matters. Additionally, I defended individuals and companies, private and public, in government investigations conducted by federal and state agencies, including the Federal Trade Commission, Department of Justice, Securities & Exchange Commission, and state Attorneys General. I also navigated clients through congressional investigations and hearings. In doing so, I successfully secured closures of federal and state investigations, without any penalty or concession, involving allegations of deceptive marketing practices, collusion, monopolization, anticompetitive information sharing, violations of telemarketing regulations, and unfair/deceptive business practices.
In addition, I have experience assisting companies in developing and implementing global compliance policies and procedures, and counseled clients on global competition, consumer protection, and trade regulation issues. I also regularly advised companies on business transactions and successfully guided clients through multi-jurisdictional premeger antitrust clearance processes.
I have a passion for teaching and learning, and serve as an adjunct professor at Penn State, SMU, and Dickinson Law School.
