Based in Gig Harbor, Washington, the Women's Council of REALTORS Washington represents a legacy of professional empowerment spanning over 80 years. What began in the 1920s as a response to exclusion has evolved into an inclusive community that celebrates and develops leaders across the real estate industry and beyond. Our mission centers on advancing women as professionals and leaders in business, the industry, and the communities we serve—a principle reflected in our motto, "When Women Are Present, Everything Changes." We are more than a professional organization; we are a network of fierce goal-diggers who encourage one another to dream bigger and achieve more. Our Washington State membership spans multiple regional networks, each dedicated to supporting local real estate professionals while contributing to our national movement. Approximately 10% of our members are male, demonstrating our genuine commitment to inclusion and collaboration across all genders. We honor the legacy of leaders like Margo Wheeler, whose 30-year real estate career and numerous leadership roles—including NAR Vice President and Washington Realtor's President—exemplified the transformational impact our members create. Through volunteer leadership, mentorship, and community involvement, we develop strong leaders for the real estate profession and the broader communities we serve. The personal and professional growth within our network is exceptional, offering members access to training, education, and relationships that expand both their careers and their courage to pursue meaningful goals.
Since 1986, Commercial Real Estate Women Network Seattle has served as a cornerstone organization for women professionals in the Lynnwood, WA commercial real estate community, growing from an informal gathering of industry colleagues into a thriving network of over 250 dedicated members. What began as a simple lunch among women in commercial real estate has evolved into a mission-driven organization committed to advancing all women in the industry through business networking, leadership development, and career outreach. CREW Seattle's culture emphasizes inclusion, belonging, and breaking down barriers that women face in commercial real estate. The organization is deeply rooted in community values, encouraging members to become forces for activism and involvement in their local communities while building meaningful professional relationships. As part of the broader CREW Network family since 1990, CREW Seattle members are empowered through knowledge sharing and peer learning, drawing strength from the diverse experiences and insights of colleagues across the Pacific Northwest and globally. The organization's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion shapes every aspect of its work, from its leadership development initiatives to its career outreach programs that introduce women and girls to commercial real estate opportunities. CREW Seattle members believe that diverse voices enrich business connections and drive innovation. By fostering a supportive environment where women can learn from one another, advance their careers, and contribute to their communities, CREW Seattle has established itself as an essential professional home for women in commercial real estate throughout the Seattle area and beyond.
Founded in April 1957, the Accounting & Financial Women's Alliance Tacoma Chapter has been a cornerstone of professional support and empowerment for women in accounting and finance throughout the Tacoma, Washington community for nearly seven decades. Our organization was born from a simple but powerful idea: women in accounting should have a dedicated space to exchange practical ideas, support one another, and grow together professionally.
The mission of AFWA is to enable women in all accounting and related fields to achieve their full personal, professional, and economic potential while contributing to the future development of the profession. We are guided by core values of empowerment, leadership, integrity, and passion—principles that have shaped our chapter's culture since our earliest days. Our current membership of over 20 dedicated professionals includes some of our original founding members, representing a remarkable continuity of commitment and expertise.
What sets the Tacoma Chapter apart is our deep roots in the local community combined with our connection to a national organization with over 80 years of experience advancing women in accounting. Members consistently report transformative experiences through AFWA, from discovering new career paths to developing essential leadership skills and forming lifelong professional friendships. By bringing together successful women accountants and finance professionals who understand the unique position of being a woman in this industry, we create an environment where members can thrive, mentor others, and collectively shape the future of accounting and finance in the Tacoma area.
