Founded in 1967, the Association for Iranian Studies has grown into a vibrant international community of over 500 scholars, students, and researchers united by their passion for understanding Iranian culture, history, and society. Operating from Toronto, ON, this non-political, non-profit organization brings together academics and aficionados from around the world to foster meaningful scholarly dialogue and collaborative research. What sets AIS apart is its unwavering commitment to intellectual freedom and the free exchange of ideas across all disciplines and media. The organization's foundational mission remains unchanged: to promote excellence in Iranian Studies education and research while facilitating connections among scholars separated by geography and borders. AIS serves as a welcoming home for researchers studying Persian heritage across diverse regions including Iran, Afghanistan, Central Asia, and diaspora communities in Europe and North America. The organization's leadership through an elected and executive council ensures that member voices shape the direction of the association's work. Beyond publishing the influential Iranian Studies journal, AIS organizes biennial conferences, provides graduate student travel grants, and mentors emerging scholars entering the field. The establishment of the Committee for Intellectual and Academic Freedom reflects AIS's deep commitment to protecting scholars' rights to pursue research and expression without fear of intimidation or persecution. For anyone interested in Iranian Studies—whether as an academic professional, graduate student, or passionate learner—AIS offers membership, networking opportunities, and a supportive international community dedicated to advancing understanding of Iranian civilization and its global significance.

Founded in 2007, this community-driven organization has grown to champion the social, political, and cultural betterment of Iranian Canadians through meaningful engagement and relationship-building. The Iranian Canadian Congress operates on four foundational pillars: advocacy that advances community interests, education that empowers informed civic participation, community building that connects organizations and individuals, and image building that celebrates Iranian culture and values. What sets this organization apart is its holistic approach to integration—recognizing that Iranian Canadians bring valuable skills, perspectives, and cultural heritage to Canadian society. The organization works as a bridge between the Iranian Canadian community and broader Canadian institutions, facilitating dialogue and cooperation at all government levels. By supporting public and private organizations that serve community needs, the Iranian Canadian Congress demonstrates deep commitment to the wellbeing of Iranian Canadians in economic, social, political, and cultural spheres. Founded in 1989 in Toronto, Ontario, the Iranian Women's Organization of Ontario (IWOO) emerged from a vision of volunteer women dedicated to improving the lives of Iranian women and families. What began as a grassroots association has grown into a vital community resource serving all Ontarians, especially immigrant women and families seeking support and guidance. IWOO's evolution reflects its commitment to remaining responsive to community needs, adopting a new strategic direction in 2009 that positioned the organization to serve a broader demographic while maintaining its core values of transparency and accountability.
IWOO understands the complexities of the immigrant experience, particularly for those who have come to Canada during periods of political uncertainty and social upheaval in their countries of origin. The organization is built on the principle that successful integration requires more than economic opportunity—it demands cultural respect, social connection, and genuine community belonging. By serving the Toronto and Ontario communities, IWOO creates spaces where immigrant women and families can access practical support while celebrating and maintaining their heritage.
At its heart, IWOO's mission centers on providing comprehensive support to women and their families while promoting solidarity and collaboration among women across diverse backgrounds. The organization believes that when women are empowered and supported, entire families and communities benefit. Through its dedicated work in Ontario, IWOO continues the legacy of community service while building bridges between cultures and fostering an inclusive vision of Canadian society.
