TYP Connects are our monthly socials designed to gather, explore, connect, and enjoy our TYP community.
Our February TYP Connects also serves as the Friday Night Community Mixer and official kickoff to ignite520. Start the weekend with an evening focused on connection and creativity, hosted in partnership with Blk House Market, and sponsored by Community Investment Corporation.
As we kick off a weekend centered on leadership and resilience, this partnership reflects ignite520’s commitment to elevating diverse voices and community-driven creativity. Taking place during Black History Month, the collaboration with Blk House Mrkt aligns with a shared focus on building connection, commerce, and community — intentionally centering Black creatives and entrepreneurs who contribute to Tucson’s cultural and economic resilience.
Enjoy a pop-up market featuring local Black creatives, live music, and live art by local artist Tae, all within a curated space to connect with fellow ignite520 attendees and TYP members ahead of Saturday’s full leadership experience. The evening will also include a raffle benefiting Ubuntu Academies, blending creativity, connection, and community impact to spark relationships and inspiration before a full day of learning and growth.

Tamara Mulembo is a fierce and tireless advocate with over seventeen years of experience. She has defended high profile criminal cases in state and federal court, including death penalty cases. Espinosa of the Arizona Court of Appeals, Tamara practiced criminal defense as part of the Pima County Public Defender's Spanish Felony Trial Unit. Tamara left the Defender's Office to join State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company's Corporate Law Department where she litigated personal injury and premises liability cases. She returned to criminal defense as an Assistant Federal Public Defender and served as a Trial Team Leader.
Tamara is a skilled educator who trains attorneys and staff across the nation. She was detailed to the Administrative Office of the United States Courts, Defender Services Office, Training Division in Washington, DC. Tamara also served as Chief Deputy Pima County Attorney where she supervised multiple departments and over 320 employees.

Beta Pi Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. represents one of 22 member organizations within the Black African Coalition at Arizona State University, serving the Tempe, Arizona campus community since the Coalition's establishment in 1991. Founded on principles of unity, sisterhood, and mutual support, Beta Pi Chapter embodies the Coalition's commitment to uplifting Black and African students while fostering a strong sense of belonging on campus.
The chapter is rooted in the broader mission of the Black African Coalition, which strives to unite Black and African students across all four ASU campuses while working to increase student enrollment, retention, and meaningful involvement. This commitment reflects the Coalition's dedication to embedding a thriving Black presence through authentic community and campus programming that resonates with students' lived experiences and aspirations.
Members of Beta Pi Chapter find community with peers who share similar values and backgrounds, creating a supportive environment where young women can grow personally and professionally. The chapter's participation in Coalition events, meetings, and initiatives allows members to connect with other Black student organizations, including fraternities, professional associations, and cultural groups, building a comprehensive network of support and friendship.
Greounded in the legacy of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., Beta Pi Chapter carries forward a tradition of service, compassion, and excellence.
