The Polish American Congress, an “umbrella” organization, is a federation of over 3000 Polish American organizations and clubs, ranging from national fraternal benefit societies, such as the Polish National Alliance, Polish Women’s Alliance, Polish Roman Catholic Union, Polish Falcons and others, including veteran, cultural, professional, religious and social associations, with aggregate membership of over one million. The PAC by-laws also provide for individual membership, as well as associate membership.
With 25 State Divisions and Chapters, the Polish American Congress is represented in 19 states.
The PAC promotes civic, educational and cultural programs designed to further not only the knowledge of Polish history, language and culture, but to stimulate Polish American involvement and accomplishments.
The governing body of the PAC is the Council of National Directors, consisting of directors elected by their respective State Divisions or National Organizations and up to 10 at-large directors elected by the Council. Day to day operations are conducted by the Executive Committee elected by the Council of National Directors for a two year term.
Much of the work of the Council is delegated to Standing Committees: Polish Affairs, American Agenda, Public Affairs, Cultural Affairs, Anti-bigotry, Education Commission, Polish American Heritage Month Committee, Environmental Commission and Youth Committee.
Established in 1971, Helena Modjeska Art and Culture Club in Los Angeles is a public benefit 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation dedicated to promoting Polish culture in Southern California.
The Club is a charitable, cultural and a-political organization, dedicated to the promotion of the Polish cultural heritage, as well as Polish arts and sciences in California. As a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, with the IRS Tax Determination number EIN 20-3491956, the Club sponsors important cultural events in Los Angeles and its environs. Polish Center of Los Angeles is a fraternal association of Polish Americans in Los Angeles. The Polish Center was founded in 1967, with the primary address given as 3424 W. Adams Blvd, Los Angeles. Primary drivers in founding of the center were Jerzy Zielinski and Helena Stelmach. In 1975, the Polish Fraternal Association of California known as “Samopomoc” was dissolved, with its remaining assets being added to those of the Polish Center. “Samopomoc” was founded on June 23, 1952, with the following goals:
- To foster, encourage and promote the civic, social, cultural, and education interests of the Polish-American community.
- To stimulate mutual help amongst its members and to inculcate upon its members the principles of charity, justice, and brotherly love
- To assists its members and particularly the newly arrived Polish immigrants in need.
The Polish Club (Dom Polski) in San Francisco’s Mission District boasts three member societies, which held their first joint meeting in 1925. The mission of the Polish Club is to serve as a center for the propagation of Polish culture, art, language and community. The Club building was acquired in 1926 and is used today for Polish cultural events. Łowiczanie Polish Folk Ensemble of San Francisco holds weekly dance classes at the Polish Club on Tuesday evenings.
The Polish Society of California founded in San Francisco by K. Bielawski and R.K. Piotrowski in 1863 to support Poland's 1863 Uprising celebrated its 150th Anniversary in 2013. The Polish Literary and Dramatic Circle arranges recitals, lectures, film screenings and book-club discussions to promote the interests of its members in Polish literature, drama and the other arts. The mission of the St. Stanislaus Benevolent Society is to give support to Polish Catholic religious endeavors.

Ms. Urban is a habituated diplomat in complex settlement negotiations. Her pragmatic approach and natural aptitude for litigation puts forth a uniquely well-rounded experience.
Ms. Urban received her Bachelor of the Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Michigan-Dearborn. There she received multiple scholarships and studied abroad in Graz, Austria and Rome, Italy. Ms. Urban received her Juris Doctorate from Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles, CA where she also received multiple scholarships. While in law school, she interned at Consulate of the Republic in Poland in Los Angeles. She attended the International Entertainment & Media Law Program in London, England as well as the International Corporate Law Program in Budapest, Hungary.
Ms. Urban speaks Polish with native level fluency and business-level German.
After obtaining a bachelor's and master's degree from Stanford University and a law degree from Santa Clara University, I practiced law in various arenas of general litigation for eight years. For almost two years, I have practiced in the criminal appellate arena and also generally in appellate law. As a woman, I have a desire to help and can relate to women with their appellate issues. I am compassionate and caring, but I am also a competent and strong advocate. I helped myriad woman with domestic restraining orders while I practiced family law. Though I no longer practice in this area, my competence and compassion are still a strength of mine.

Klezmer veterans perform recently gathered traditional works, new compositions, and improvised melodies.
Join Veretski Pass for a concert based on Ukrainian, Polish and Jewish melodies. This will include pieces from their 2024 release, the Peacock and the Sunflower, as well as their 2015 release, Poyln: A Gilgul (Poland: A Transformation). They will also present some recently gathered rural, Polish and Ukrainian tunes as well as Jewish melodies from those regions. Along with their own compositions and arrangements, the Klezmer veterans in Veretski Pass play music in an original style, with driving dance rhythms, as well as beautifully meandering, slow melodies, sometimes improvised on the spot.
