Founded in 1991 by ten dedicated Louisvillians, the Fairness Campaign represents Kentucky's broad-based community effort to build an inclusive society where LGBTQ individuals and allies work together for equal rights and social justice. Serving communities throughout Louisville, KY and across the Commonwealth, the organization is built on the belief that gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and queer people deserve respect, dignity, and full equality in all aspects of life.
The Fairness Campaign's vision extends beyond legislative victories to fundamentally dismantle oppression and create an inclusive community where all individuals are valued and empowered to reach their full potential. The organization recognizes that dismantling racism is central to this work and that lasting change requires coalition building with other social justice movements. With 24 Kentucky communities now protected by Fairness Ordinances—from Louisville and Lexington to smaller communities like Vicco, Midway, and Elsmere—the organization demonstrates the power of persistent grassroots organizing. The Fairness Education Fund, designated as a 501(c)(3) publicly supported organization, works specifically to broaden community awareness and counter societal myths through accurate information and education. By bringing together lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people with committed allies, the Fairness Campaign in Louisville continues transforming society through community connection, reciprocal alliances, and a shared commitment to building a more just world for everyone.
Based in Louisville, Kentucky, the Louisville Pride Foundation embodies a vision where every person is empowered to thrive as their authentic self within a safe and affirming community. This 501(c)(3) charitable organization was founded on the belief that Louisville can be one unified community that celebrates diversity while honoring what makes each individual unique. The foundation bridges divides by fostering meaningful conversations between LGBTQ individuals and straight allies, creating spaces where understanding and acceptance flourish. At its heart, the Louisville Pride Foundation is driven by passionate community leaders and staff who bring lived experience and deep commitment to LGBTQ advocacy and inclusion. The organization recognizes that community empowerment requires more than celebration—it requires tangible support, accessible resources, and intentional efforts to center marginalized voices within the LGBTQ community. Through the Louisville Pride Center and annual Pride Festival, the foundation creates gathering spaces where people can connect, find support, and build community. The foundation's work extends beyond events to include sustained programming that addresses real community needs: mental health support, food security initiatives, educational opportunities, and professional development. By combining celebration with substantive community support, the Louisville Pride Foundation demonstrates that true inclusion means creating systems and spaces where every member of the Louisville community—regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or background—can access resources, build relationships, and participate fully in civic life.
