Founded in 2017 by four Boston philanthropists and businesswomen—Kim Boucher, Ami Kuan Danoff, Christina Gordon, and Christina Suh—the Women's Foundation of Massachusetts emerged from a recognition that only 1.3% of local philanthropic dollars support nonprofits dedicated to serving women and girls. This Boston-based organization has grown into a community-powered movement dedicated to transforming the lives of women and girls throughout Massachusetts by unlocking their economic potential. Since inception, the Foundation has made a meaningful difference in the lives of more than 23,000 women and girls, awarding over $3 million in grants during its 2025 cycle. The Foundation's work extends across Massachusetts, from Boston to the Berkshires, with particular focus on Gateway Cities and underresourced communities.
