Arepas are popular in Columbian and especially Venezuelan cuisine. They are corn patties that resemble English muffins. These doughy delights are perfect for stuffing with meats and vegetables, eating on their own, or dipping into something scrumptious.
In this fun and interactive NYC cooking class, you will be guided step-by-step as you prepare your very own arepas with your choice of chicken and/or black beans and cheese fillings. A blend of culture and culinary lesson, this class includes insight into Venezuelan cuisine and Arepa history, as well as valuable knife skills.
Before sitting down to enjoy your meal, you will also learn how to make Chef Jerry's favorite Chimichurri sauce. Drizzle on the good stuff and assemble your arepas before indulging in this famous South American delight! There will be enough ingredients for each guest to make six mini or three standard-sized arepas.
No experience is required! We provide all the equipment and ingredients. This class is casual and meant to be fun and instructive, not hardcore. It is designed to be just as fun for the baking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting.
You'll leave this delicious NYC cooking class with a full belly and the knowledge of how to make your own arepas at home.
