Darpana Sheth is an attorney and Vice President of Litigation for the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression. Darpana joined FIRE after 10 years with the Institute for Justice, where she litigated cutting-edge constitutional cases to protect property rights, economic liberty, and other individual liberties in federal court. She also served as Director of the Institute’s National Initiative to End Forfeiture Abuse.
Darpana has testified before the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, state legislatures, the Council of the District of Columbia, and before the Judicial Conference Advisory Committees on proposed amendments to procedural rules used in federal courts. Her opinions and views on legal issues have been featured in major outlets including CNN, The Washington Post, Forbes, and The Philadelphia Inquirer. The National Law Journal recognized Darpana as one of “D.C.’s Rising Stars.”
Before becoming a public-interest attorney, Darpana served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of New York and worked in private practice as a litigation associate at the Manhattan law firm of Chadbourne & Parke, LLP. She also served as law clerk to the Honorable Jerome A. Holmes of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
A native of Philadelphia, Darpana graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History. She earned her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center.
Darpana is a member of the New York bar. She also serves as an Advisor on the American Law Institute’s Principles of the Law, Policing Project.
Hina's legal practice focuses on the areas of family law, corporate law, Wills & estates, and real estate law.
Hina is licensed to practice in the State of New York, as well as in Ontario; she holds a dual qualification as a lawyer in both jurisdictions.
She applies a collaborative, settlement-oriented approach on all of her files and aims to assist her clients in the most efficient and cost-effective way possible.
She is available for a meeting, whether over the phone, or in person, with clients 7 days a week, including evenings.
