The Accounting and Financial Women's Alliance (AFWA) in Greenville, SC is a chapter of the National Accounting and Financial Women's Alliance (formerly ASWA or American Society of Women Accountants). The Accounting & Financial Women's Alliance is the home for all women accounting and financial professionals whether new to the field, experienced or considering a career transition.
The Accounting & Financial Women's Alliance was formed as the American Society of Women Accountants in 1938 to increase the opportunities for women in all fields of accounting and finance. Members include partners in national, regional and local CPA firms, financial officers, controllers, academicians, financial analysts, and financial advisors and recent college graduates and women returning to the work force. The majority of members have obtained professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, CIA, and CFP. The national organization was chartered in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1938 to increase the opportunities available to women in the fields of accounting and finance. Most members have one of the following professional designations: CPA, CMA, CIA, and CFP.
The mission of AFWA is to enable women in all accounting and finance fields to achieve their full potential and to contribute to their profession.
We strive to accomplish that mission in the Greenville chapter with regular luncheon meetings and other events designed to provide opportunities for professional development and networking, and by providing scholarships for the next generation of women financial professionals.
The mission of the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association (SCWLA) is to enhance the status, influence and effectiveness of women lawyers in the State of South Carolina. SCWLA will, through advocacy, action and association, take positive steps to ensure that women lawyers achieve their fair share of opportunities and benefits available to those in the legal profession.
SCWLA was founded through the sheer willpower and determination of countless women who devoted their time and energy to ensure that practicing law is now easier for women lawyers than it was in years past.
Our Goals
To encourage and promote the advancement of women in the profession of law. To provide opportunities for the development of collegiality and mentoring among women lawyers.
