The mission of the AFWA is to enable women in all accounting, finance and related fields to achieve their full personal, professional and economic potential and to contribute to the future development of their professions.
The Accounting & Financial Women's Alliance was formed as the American Society of Women Accountants in 1938 to increase the opportunities for women in all fields of accounting and finance. Members include partners in national, regional and local CPA firms, financial officers, controllers, academics, financial analysts and data processing consultants, recent college graduates and women returning to the work force. Although not a requirement for membership, the majority of our members have attained professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, CIA, and CFP.
AFWA is a national association with chapters throughout the United States. Our chapters offer leadership, networking and educational opportunities. Founded in 1976, the Houston Association of Women Attorneys (AWA) is a non-profit 501(c)(6) organization composed of attorneys, judges, and law students who are interested in promoting women and the interests of women in Houston’s legal community. The members of the AWA host CLE and networking events, perform judicial candidate screening and provide judicial recommendations, and create programming for Houston law students.
The Association of Women Attorneys is organized is to promote the common business interests of women in the legal profession. In particular, the AWA strives to improve opportunities for and to promote the recognition of women attorneys.
Established in 2019, Women in Music Houston is a chapter of WIM that is dedicated to fostering equality in the music industry through the support and advancement of women. Providing knowledge, strategy & solutions to our members and the greater community is our driving purpose.
The Women’s Fund serves at risk adolescent girls and underserved women living in Houston and Harris County who have limited or no access to health education information and are at risk for a variety of health issues. Our programming teaches resiliency skills to increase self-efficacy, decision-making, goal setting and communication, as well as resourcefulness, to ensure positive health outcomes for individuals and the community. In 2017, The Women’s Fund reached more than 9,000 girls, women, and their families through its health education programming and Health Fairs in the Houston area.
Because health is a resource for everyday life and not just the objective of living, the mission of The Women’s Fund is to provide Houston area women, and girls, with the tools they need to be advocates for their health. Our health education classes are unique because they include preventative curriculum-based classes that teach resiliency skills and relate those skills to current health risks.
Resiliency is a key strategy to empowering individuals and communities to either increase or decrease long-term health outcomes; therefore, we teach resiliency skills to increase self – efficacy, decision-making, goal setting and communication and resourcefulness to ensure positive health outcomes for individuals and communities. Resiliency and health promotion enable individuals to increase control over, and to improve, their health. Individuals use their communities to draw on existing human and material resources to enhance resiliency, self-help and social support, and to participate in health matters so we invest in community partnerships to implement our programs as required for us to accomplish our mission.
Executive Women’s Alliance (EWA) is a 501c3 nonprofit executive women’s organization that provides personal and professional development for its members alongside mentoring and educational outreach programs for young women through EWA’s Women of Vision program. Scholarships are provided to the young women in the Women of Vision program upon graduation, to attend institutions of higher education for purposes of facilitating their entry into business and/or professional careers.
Our main focus is to provide career enhancement and leadership opportunities for our members and educational outreach programs to young women though our Women of Vision Program.

The NWC advocates for the empowerment of women through a CollectiveVoice; a voice that represents women standing united to tackle women’s issues.
The Coalition of Labor Union Women is America's only national organization for union women. Formed in 1974, CLUW is a nonpartisan organization within the union movement.
The primary purpose of (CLUW) is to unify all union women in a strong organization to determine and seek remedies to our common problems and concerns and to develop action programs within the framework of the labor movement to effectively promote our objectives.
At its founding convention in Chicago, Illinois, CLUW adopted four core objectives: to empower women for greater participation at all levels in the labor movement; to organizing the unorganized; to promote affirmative action, social and economic justice in the workplace; and to increase the participation of women in the political and legislative processes.
