Irish Musicians Nuala Kennedy and Eamon O'Leary in Concert
World renowned as a traditional singer and flute player, Nuala Kennedy is known for her creative reworking and reimagining of traditional songs and for her unique Irish flute style, formed in Dundalk and honed in her long-time adopted home of Edinburgh, Scotland.
She is a musical adventurer who is recognized world-wide as a superlative performer of traditional music. Nuala joined Irish-American Supergroup SOLAS as singer for their 30th Anniversary Reunion in 2025. She has graced the cover of Irish Music Magazine, Sing Out! and appeared on the mainstage at festivals and venues around the world including Rudolstadt (GER), Celtic Connections (UK), Milwaukee Irish festival (USA), Telemark (NOR), Eurofonik (FRA), National Folk Festival (AU) and Celtic Colors (CAN).
“Cheeky, dynamic and full of ideas.” —Scotland on Sunday
“A flute player and composer of remarkable finesse, fearless of the unknown.” —The Irish Times
Her newest release ‘Hydra’ (August 2024) is an atmospheric duo album of songs recorded with Eamon O’ Leary.
‘Sumptous folk songs’ – Folk Album of the Month, The Guardian
Nuala and Eamon share a life-long interest in collecting lesser-known ancient ballads and breathing new life into them, re-working and re-imagining them for audiences today. Their melodies are hypnotic and wandering… much as the musicians themselves. They have honed their craft in tandem over decades of touring every conceivable type of venue; from Carnegie Hall and huge folk festivals, to a hand hewn village hall north of the Arctic Circle.
Eamon O’Leary, from Dublin, is a long time resident of New York City. A singer and string player, with deep roots in the world of Irish trad, he is one half of The Murphy Beds with Jefferson Hamer. Their debut album was described by The Hufffington Post as one that “bears repeated listening from start to finish, with ten beautiful, crystalline songs.” He is also a member of The Alt with Nuala Kennedy and John Doyle. His songwriting can be heard, most recently, on The Silver Sun from Reveal Records.
