The purposes of (Ridna Shkola), as set forth in its Articles, are to:
- Nurture and maintain Ukrainian culture and identity through the teaching of Ukrainian history, language, and the arts;
- To cultivate an appreciation of the Ukrainian heritage in children and youth of Ukrainian descent;
- To operate and maintain in western Pennsylvania a school of Ukrainian studies;
- To provide an enriched environment for children and youth of Ukrainian descent through the exploration and mastery of another culture and tradition so as to promote a strong identification to the culture and tradition beloved by their parents and grandparents;
- To prepare curriculum materials for use by other schools of Ukrainian studies.
The history of ODWU, the Organization for the Rebirth of Ukraine, is a heroic story of extraordinary dedication and perseverance by thousands of Ukrainian-Americans. ODWU was born in the United States and from its inception ODWU members have remained faithful to the universal principles of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness so eloquently articulated in America’s Declaration of Independence.
The purpose of ODWU was to keep the dream of an independent, sovereign, and democratic Ukrainian nation-state alive and vital. With Ukraine divided after the First World War among four European powers - - Poland, Rumania, Hungary and the Soviet Union - - the idea of a free Ukraine seemed like an impossible dream.
Ukrainian American Citizens' Association aka The Ukie Club on Franklin
The Ukrainian American Citizens' Association (UACA) is a member's only association consisting of both Active and Social members. This organization welcomes all of Ukrainian decent and those who would like to learn more about and participate in the Ukrainian community of Philadelphia.
The UACA is the first organization of Ukrainian-American citizens in Philadelphia. Members love their Ukrainian heritage and enjoy sharing the traditional Ukrainian customs.
For 110 years, the UACA has provided financial aid to Ukrainian causes, assisted in the resettling of Ukrainian refugees upon their arrival to America, and hosted a variety of Ukrainian organizations' benefits and fundraisers, as well as, served as their headquarters.
The Ukrainian Educational and Cultural Center (UECC) is a non-profit organization located in the suburbs of Philadelphia in Jenkintown, PA. Founded in 1980, UECC is a focal point of Ukrainian-American cultural life in the Delaware Valley. The objective of the UECC is to preserve and promote awareness of Ukrainian heritage throughout the community. The UECC houses over 30 community, educational, scholarly and professional organizations and a Ukrainian Library. Educational programs range from a nursery school to a twelve-year Saturday School that provides instruction in Ukrainian language, literature, history, geography, music and culture.
The Mission of the UECC is to establish and maintain the facilities; promote, support, conduct and maintain social services and educational programs; and act and function exclusively for charitable and educational goals.
United Ukrainian American Relief Committee, Inc. (UUARC) was founded in 1944 to help those in need. Since its beginning, UUARC has endeavored to provide aid where the need is the greatest. It provided help to many thousands of refugees who came to the United States after World War II, as well as assisted countless Ukrainians throughout the world.
We are a non-profit organization recognized by the IRS under Article 501(c)3, and registered with USAID. Therefore, we are able to provide humanitarian aid to Ukrainians in Ukraine, Romania, Poland, Kazakhstan, Brazil, Argentina and the U.S.
In addition to our humanitarian aid, education, sustainable land programs abroad, and our immigrant programs here in the U.S., we are often the first to respond to aid victims of natural disasters such as floods or mine accidents.
Our team is comprised of volunteers who are advocates for all who need help. A little help is beneficial for the recipient and rewarding for the volunteer. We are very happy and fortunate when we find new volunteers who share our commitment to the needy of the world.
